MetaHumans get a major upgrade

Unreal just dropped a massive update for MetaHumans and somehow they look even better!

My favourite part is you can finally properly adjust body shapes (not just faces). You can tweak everything: height, shoulder width, even muscle mass. There's a bunch more clothing options and they'll all automatically snap to the body proportions you set.

The faces look even more realistic and the live stream demo at the end is an amazing showcase for how well the lip sync just...works.

It’s still not straightforward to get MetaHumans into other software, but I'll be taking a look myself over the next couple of weeks to see if I can get one into Blender.

I think a big part of this is because so many people are turning to AI for their Internet searches, but this video by Logically Answered goes into a lot more detail.

Animate like a 2D artist

Did you know old-school 2D animators used to draw arcs over their animations to plan out motion? Before timelines, this was how they timed their moves.

This new Blender addon by Dédouze brings this old technique into the modern era by letting you literally draw your animation paths and see them drive your 3D motion.

It's really something that needs to be seen to understand, so check out their 45 second trailer.
